Rifle Shooting

LEVIN DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. On. Saturday afternoon the Levin Defence Rifle Club fire<l the final competition for the Buller Oup and Mr F. Glackin's Silver Cup. The day was fine for shooting, but the wind was somewhat tricky at times, which made the judging difficult. The conditions were ten shots and ono optional sighter at 700 yds, the one "shoot" to count for both Cups. Rflm. P. Jones topped the aggregates for both the Buller and F. Glackin's Cup. Mr F. Glackin's original conditions with his cup were that the Rifleman winning the Buller Cup could' not win the Glackin trophy, which would go to the nextman, hut the club's shooting committee, with Mr Glackin's consent, decided that if any competitor topped the aggregates of both cups he could take his choice. Mr Glackin's Silver Cup is won outright in one year, and Rflm. P. Jones, having topped the aggregates for both cups, decided to take Mr Glackin's Silver Cup. Rflm. J. Rutherford, being next on the list in the Buller Cup aggregate, takes that cup. Rflm. W. Ingram, who has already won the Buller Cup two years in succession, was runner up to Rflm. J. Rutherford, only two points behind. He had hard luck in losing the Buller Oup as he was shooting well when his fifth shot was registered n miss, and he only had, to put on three points that shofc to win. or two to tie with Rflm. J. Rutherford. Had he won the Buller Cup this time it would 1 have been l'is own property: but now he will need to win it three more times before he can make it his own. Rflm. W. Ingram takes Mr J. \V.
