Government's decision to send a number of cadis or judges to Crete led t6 a crowd of MOO inhabitants of Oanea assembling. It was resolved to prevcJit the landing of the officials, speakers arguing that the appointments were contrary to the two Cretan Constitutions recognised by the Powers. There have been no cadis in Crete l';ir eleven years.
