EVENTS IN SHANNON.

Mr Esson left us on Friday for his new homo at, Mangaweka. Constable Kelly, of Feilding, ae doing police, duty hero until a pormanenM appointment .has been made. On the numbers being made up it was found that Rifleman H. Sutton came iirst. with Rifleman Woodmas second ami Captain G. Stepibenson third.
The Shannon Football Club was again disappointed on Saturday — this time by Koputaroa. No team rolled up to meet the Shannon fifteen. Tt is time the Union took these matters in hand .
On Saturday the bowlers did not roll up in force. One interesting game was played. E. Stephenson (skip) and Lind defeated Roaoih (skip) and Hanson by 20 points to 18. The "Bible-in-Schools advocates aro making a big hid to capture the seats at to-night's Shannon school committee election.
Mr "Gus." Harris, whoilms been with us for some years, is leaving with his family for Auckland. "Gus" is a cheery little chap, with a> smile for everybody, and everybody wishes him prosperity in his new home. Mr D. Pringle, the contractor for the new p'ost office, is going ahead with his job. The frame-work of the building is erected. The timber is all of a substantial and durable kind, lining thoroughly seasoned: and nil heart wood.
