Levin business people are reminded tliat this evening is the time of the meeting convened for the re-forma-tion of the Levin Chamber of Commorcc. The meeting will he held in the Borough Council Chambers at 8 p.m. Mr W- C. Nation has returned to Levin from his trip to the South IsHe reports that the weather still is very dry in those parte, and the scarcity of water ;has caused the cessation of various industries. April in the southern provinces, is generally characterised by cold weather, but just now the conditions are peculiarly mild, and tie pastures are parched through lack of moisture.

The Mayor will give a short address on municipal matters in tho Century Hall on Tuesday evening. Candidates for seats on the Council will have an opportunity of addressing the meeting if they so desire.

A football match will take place l>etweon tho Levin-Wanderer Football Club and the Hui Mai Club on the recreation ground to-morrow afternoon. Levin players are roqueted to roll up in good numbers.

The Mayor at last evening's meeting of bho Lovin Horough Council moved and Cr. MoKenzie seconded tho following resolution, wliich was adopted ; That Mr R. Staveiy (Mr Page's solicitor) be inforjatd that this council docs not acknowledge any liability in connection with the accident Mr Page met with in the King's Drive road.

The Pnblie\Trustcc wrote, to the Lovin Borough Council last evening enclosing a statement of account of the Levin Council Sinking Fund for the year ended 31st March. 1911. Tin's showed the Sinking Fund on the CIS,OOO Water Works Loan now stands at £107 9s 9d. The Public Trustee allows a rate of 7 4 per cent, on the amount paid by the council and by the Government. On this particular loan the Government pays half the sinking fund. The members present at- the meeting were: tho Mayor (Mr B. R. Gardener), Crs. France, Prouse. A reus, Hannan and Lancaster with Mr P. W. Goldsmith (town clerk).
