The river lias encroached on the main street. One store .has been overturned, and considerable other damage lias been done to property. Tlie. cane crops suffered severely. Vehicle traffic has been cut off. HOUSES SWEPT AWAY. (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. During Saturday, the flood waters at Cairns covered a large part of the township. Boats are plying in the streets. The esplanade was badly damaged. In the Kanerungora district houses were swept away.
