EVENTS IN SHANNON. (Chronicled by our Resident Representative.■> LAWN TENNIS. The Lawn Tennis courts presented: a lively scene on Saturday afternoon, when a party of Levin visitors tried conclusions with the local players. The games throughout were contested with spirit, although the utmost good will prevailed at all times. The Levinites secured, a well-earned victory. During the afternoon the visitors were entertained at a lunch; provided by the local cliiib and presided over iby Mrs Lauirvig. The following are the scores, Levin players being mentioned first in each case:— MEN'S SINGLES. Harper lost to Dunckley. 5—7. Melntvro boat Schmidt, 7—5. Mr Jeffreys, who has resided . in Shannon for a number of years (and lias carried on business as a blacksmith) is leaving with his family for Levin. Mr and Mrs Jeffreys will bo much missed. They will leave us with all good wishes for thoir future, welfare.
