LONDON, February 20. Mr Wedgwood (Radical), who made the recent.comments on the Speaker, withdrew the statements and offered an ample apology, wihich the House accepted. Mr Ginnell (Nationalist) apologised to Mr Wedgwood for publishing a personal letter, and renewed his protest thai members were not allowed to speak unless their names were banded to the Speaker on tlie lists supplied by tfhe party whips. The Speaker replied that these lists were not binding.
The House resolved that the publication of Mr Wedgwood's letter was a grave breacih of- fhe privileges of the House, and Mr Asquith moved that Mr Ginnell be suspended for a week if lie did not apologise to the Speaker. Tho motio nwas carried, the Labour party and Nationalists voting in the minority.
