The Hemp Industry.
•— Says the Foxton Herald The hemp market this week is brighter prices haying advanced los per ton. A local miller states that on Monday he sold a parcel of "fair" hemp at a lower price than he (had received for the part seventeen years; one hour after the sale was completed lie could have obtained a further five shillings per ton and three hours later was offered los per ton more than what he sold at. The quantity of honip and to ,v at present in the local grading sh -ds must constitute a record, both shod* being practically full. The output locally is still keeping up but the quality is not as good as usual, j'iiis is mainly due to the very fine weather experienced which tends to dry the fibre without blenching it, a;,d thus leaving t-ho colour anything bu f good.
