LEVIN STOCK SALES.
GOOD YARDINGS.
Despite the dry weather iihore were good yarding* of botfoi cattle and sheep at Levin stock sales yesterday. Messrs Abraham and Williams had good yardings of hotili classes—cattle particularly so. Sheep maintained their prices in spite of scarcity or water, 'and every pen was sold. Cattle were inclined to drag, but the greater bulk was sold at satisfactory prices. Bidding throughout the day was fairly brisk. The firm varded about- 1500 sheep-and 500 head of cattle. There was a good attendance of buyers at Messrs Dalgetv and Co.'s yards, and butchers from Wollington were busy purchasing fat stock. A SOodJme of well-bred 1 shorthorn cattle from Mr J. Kobbell's well-known run at Olian attracted considerable attention. They were some of the best that have been in the yards for some time. Mr J. R. Macdonald, of Hoathorlea. bought most of the cattle sold on Mr Kobhell's behalf. Tho firm quitted everything. r>ALGETY ANT) CO., LTD., report holding their fortnightly sale vestorday. ABRAHAM AN© WILLIAMS Report: At Levin on Friday a good, entry of sheep met a brisk enquiry, and all lots wero of atwices well up to recent quotations. Cattle came forward in large numbers, over 100 bead being submitted to auction. Good steers and well > grown weaners .sold readily. Bidding for forward and store cows was inclined to drag, and several lines were passed at auction. Very few lots, (however, went out unsold at iJhie end of the day. THE LEVTN AUCTIONEERING COMPANY "Report on their pig and poultry sale, bold at Levin yesterday:— A largo number of pigs were yarded in our pens, there being a very good entry of prime porkers. The market for pork showed a slight improvement on last sale, but stores and weaners wore neglected and very hard to quit at low prices. Poultry and fruit were in good supply and found ready buyers. Our yarding included 129 pigs, 111 head poultry, 22 cases of fruit, also onions, potatoes and sundries, and with the exception of one or two lots of pigs, everything was sold under the hammer. Wo quote: Heavy porkers, 28? fid, 29s to 30s: medium, 2os. 25s Od, 20s to 28s: light, 20s 6d to 23s 0d ; .stores. 8s 3d to 9s; weaners, 4s nd. 5s 3d to fis flrlj sows, to 295; boar, 20s: Ihens, Is to Is 7d; roosters, 9d to Is lid; ducks, Is 6d; apples/Is 9d. 2s. to 2s 4d ; pears, 2s 3d ; plums, 2s Id to 2s 3d; tomatoes, 3s fid; all at per half-case.
