During a debate on the navy, the Socialists accused the Krupp family of making £3,3-10,000 clear profit during the last three years, squeezing trie whole district like a lemon. They alleged tliat forty per cent, of the "workmen's dwellings at Esson were in a disgraceful condition. Reginald McKenna, First Lord of the Admiralty, informed) Mr Burgoyne, Unionist member for Kensington, that there were 22 dry and floating Dreadnought docks built and building in Great Britain, thirteen of them belonging to the Admiralty. Out of a total of fourteen .available for use in the North Sea and the English Channel, seven belonged to the Admiralty and there wore five private docks outside the United Kingdom to be added. Germany's total' was eleven, whereof eight were in the North Sea. EX-SOLDIERS AS EMIGRANTS. LONDON, February 16. The Rt. Hon. R. B. Haldane (Minister of War), replying, in the House of Commons, to a question whether the Government would give facilities to enable ex-soldiers with suitable- experience to emigrate to Australia, said that the Government was unable to extend the present commutation of pensioiiSj and suggested that the colonies should forego requiring the deposit.
