The Labour Conference has adopted tho following planks as its fighting platform: -Abolition of the Legislative Council and the substitution therefor of initiative and referendum; electoral reform; proper machinery for the true representation of Hie people in Parliament: regulation of the hours of labour; cessation, of further sales of Crown hinds; a proper system of closer settlement; water conservation; irrigation ; restriction of public borrowing, establishment of a land bank; graduated laud tax; free education -•■secondary, technical and- university; nationalisation of the coal mines.
