EVENTS IN SHANNON

At the Shannon green on Saturday afternoon, two very exciting games were played. The Otafa «ima» managed to win by two points and in the seniors tlio Shannon team won by a like amount. The following are the results:— Seniors:—Shannon: J. Uleson, I. Lind, J. Roach and W. H. Sunning (skip), 21; Otaki: SatherJey, I,armor, O'Rourke, and Smith (slap), 19 Juniors:— Otaki: Goodang, Brio-lit, Thompson and Ferguson (skip) 20; Shannon: Butts, Gnlland, Mitciiell and Ession (skip), 18. The •visitors were entertained by the local men. and expressed tliemsolvos a. , ! highly' pleased with their day's outing.
The following have consented _to act as judges at the forthcoming Flowor Show, to lie held on March 3rd and, 4th: Mr A. J. Shailer (Palmoi'ston N.), out Mooins and fruit and produce; Mrs J. A. Nosh (P.N.), cookery and homo industries. .Mrs Greig ' (Foxton) fant-y work, Mrs Boyes (Foxton) decorative, Mr Elliot. (P.N.), school work. Dr. Gibh, of Wellington, lias kindly consented to open the- Show. Mr Cooper, of Kingston road, has donated a fat sliocp for guessing competition. The Shannon Savages aro in a very disturbed state; their young and warlike chief, Gibbolo, is spoiling for a fight. Major Voysoy jind a party of boy scouts were out roconnoitering and came across thp Savages. A Korero was being hold. By Gibbolo's advice is was finally decidied that a descent should bo made on the Druids' Hail, and take it by storm next Wednesday ingThe Into Mr Harrison, when 'ho was postmaster at Shannon, opened a subscription list for funds to bo applied to putt-ing our- cemetery in decent order. The following is _ a balance-sheet which, inter alia, shows bow the money was spent.
