DISTRICT NEWS.

EVENTS IN SHANNON. (Chronicled by our Resident Representative.* Yesterday a very popular wedding was celebrated at tlie Roman Catholic Church, which was nicely decorated for the occasion. The Rev. rather Kelly joined in the holy .bonds of matrimony .Miss Doherty, cnly daughter of .Mr and Mrs I*. Dolierty of Makerua, to Mr Judd, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Judd, of Tokoniaiu. Miss Maud Judd was bridesmaid, and Mr E. Dolierty best man. The bride was given away by her father. The church was filled to the door. After the ceremony Mrs I\ O'Connor played a wedding march on the organ. Over sixty guests attended the wedding breakfast, in the Druids' Hall. The tables were laden with good things, and everything was laid out with great taste, which reflected credit on the caterers (Messrs Diistin and Co.) The whole presented a very animated and picturesque appearance. The ladies evidently had looked forward to this as a red letter day. The following is a description of some of tho dresses :— The bride : Navy tailored costume, navy hat with creme roses. Miss Judd (bridesmaid): Cream serge costume trimmed with black, black hat with pink roses. Mrs Dolierty (mother of the bride): Black and white silk dress, with cream lace and black hat. Mrs Curran: Black voile and black lace, hat to match. Mrs Moynihau : Cream embroidered robe, floral toque. Mrs Kersey: "White voile, cream lace, black hat. Mrs Judd: Black silk, black and white hah. Miss Curran : Navy silk, cream lace. Mrs O'Connor: Voile costume. Mrs McKenzie: Black voile. Airs Manning: "White embroidered robe, black hat. Miss Vlivte (Tokomaru): White embroidered robe. Mrs "Wliyte: Mole colored costume. Mrs T. Brown: Cream embroidered blouse, navy skirt. Mrs 11. Brown: "White blouse, tweed skirt. Mrs Touhv : Tweed costume, white hat. Mrs "W.
