Professor Mawson interviewed Mr Pearco (Minister of Defence) and asked for Government assistance towards " the cost of the expedition. He -urged its value to Australia in α-ihe shape of passible mineral discoveries, and sealing and fishing enterprises, as well as its scientific importance. Cabinet's consideration of the request was promised by Mr Pearce.
