The depositions of the dock and shipping officials of Adelaide were read at the Waratafo inquiry, and showod that the Waratah was seaworthy and her cargo was properly stowed.' Mr McDiarmid, the pilot, regarded the Waratah as a tender ship, but not to the oxtent of being unseawortihy. She had more top hamper than usual for her trim. Depositions of Durban witnesses showed that the vessel was upright when she left Din-ban and there was nothing to indicate that she was topheavy." A precis of the report of the Sabine's search was read and the inquiry then adjourned for the thirtieth time.
