WELLINGTON, This Day. To-day's sitting of tho Seamen's Conference Council passed the following inotioii unanimously: "That this council is surprised at the unpatriotic attitude of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce (led by Mr Giinson), whicih has publicly advocated the subsidising of a foreignowned mail service between America and t-lie dominion oi : Sow Zealand, when there arc local companies quite prepared to undertake the service, the rer|uiromcnts of which companies, in the siliaps of crews, coal, stores and ot/her necessaries, would .be drawn from the resources of thi.s dominion, thereby employing omi own people, and deriving all advantages uf subsidies granted by the dominion to this service, in addition to which strengthening those bonds o!' the Empire whieih the community is desirous of fostering."
