Mr Gerald Kionnes, in an article in the Daily Graphic referring to the Commonwealth destroyers, says the sailing of the first sllvips of Fmpenal Navy en TOiite to iheir station was an event which attracted little attention, hut nevertheless was an epoch making event. Australia and Now Zealand would soon ho in a position to make a serious contribution to. the force of the Empire in a part ol the world where a naval force would be required in a very fow yeairs. Tho fact that the Australian destroyers were ocean-going proved that the Australians are not influenced by narrow views of locai defence.
Mr Fiwines condemns the small Canadian cruisers as valueless both to Canada and the Umpire.
