The Chronicle. PUBLISHED DAILY TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1910 PALMERSTON A. AND P. SHOW.

Events of importance to tho whole of the West Coast of the North Island are the spring and winter shows of tihe Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral .Association. To the districts iin.mecliate.ly surrounding the Manawatu County thoso events arc of exceptional importance, fon , contiguity gives opportunities for participation in the contests and in • the ed'ueative effects of these great shows which are to some exteint much inoro difficult of attainment, and certainly more costly, when would-be participators live at greater distances from the centre of competition. None the less, tho actual competitors at these shows represent practically every district in the North Island and many in. the South, while.farmers and settlors temporarily congregate together from .Northern Hokianga and from .Southern -Rivortoii, and from the thousand and ono districts dotted ■in between these two extremities. It is this catholicity of representation that gives these great shows their greatest educative merit. Horowhenua Comity-has been noted for many years past as a staunch supporter of tiro "\fanawatu A. and P Society. At the November Show this county may be expected to excel itself in this respect, for the programme of events is of a nature to compel patronage. Page 4of to-day's issue contains a summary of prize moneys on offer in the vairious competitive divisions, and a perusal of the advertisement is commended to all our readers.
