Interesting Farm Figures.
e* .vimwa iiguiw aru published in the Inglewood Record showing the returns from a certain farm in the district for twelve months ending 30Uh June last:— The farm is 140 acres in extent, originally bush, now mostly .grass, with a large proportion under the plough. On this are kept 40 cows for the factory, and two, one in and one out, for home use, and six horses tor work and pleasure. From the 10 cows the fanner delivered at the factory 2,724,0131bs of milk during the twelve months—the monthly supply varying from six thousand oil lbs in July , to within a shaclo of forty-two thousand in the highest period, a five week period throughout the year, thus shownig an average per cow of GB24lhs. The average test for the year was 4.08, ranging from 4.G down to 3.7. The total factory cheques for the year amounted to £50(5 14s Id, the cheques ranging from £11 Is to £71 2s 3d, a monthly average over the year of £42 3s an average per cow for the year of £12 13s 4d, and an average per acre over the whole farm from the milk cheque alone of £3 12s 4Jd. To this has to be added l the value of thirty calves kept on the farm to between five and six months old, which at present market values niea.us a further £30, or another los per head over the whole fortv (ws, briiigiiig their average up to 1 ? S a m »nber of pig« also fed 011 the farm and converted into money and other perquisites in the shape per medium of the bacon factory, and of fowls, eggs, etc., y Inch come out of th fairm, even it they never go off it, but remain tor home consumption. The Record further states that tins paricnlar farm has been under factory dairying for over ten years and yet is to-day yielding more and richer milk food per acre than it md at tho beginning of ,the period, the reason being that the land has been properly farmed and renovated so that its 'pmductiee capacity Iras been increasing year by year.'
