EVENTS IN SHANNON.

A woll attended concert in aid of the Methodist Church was heldi in the Druids' Hall, o» Wednesday night. The first part of tlie programme, was a cantata entitled "Soot and the Fairies," for which Mrs A. Saunders Ms been assiduously training the children of the Hunday Sdhool connected: with the church for some months past. All the characters were well sustained }iy the following little ones. "Queen of the Fairies," Myrtle Tranewnti; "Soot," ' Reggie Merwood; "Wag, , * Xonuan Tremowan ; "The Queen's Secretary," Bernard Berntson j "Lord Bootlace ; " "Willie Qnarric ; " Baron Hairbrush," Johnny Xewth; "Lady Soapsmte," Efethel Berntson; "Doctor Sunlight," Allan Carter; "Doctor's Secretary," Tuppy Mundon.

The above were supported by some twenty other children. TJie power of cleanliness which was n<l- - illustrated by a procession oi fairies carrying soap, sock and scrul)bing brushes. The solo "The Rose and the Lily," sung by .Myrtle Treinewan was particularly good; in fact it wa.s hard to place any of them as better than one another. Miss Oliyo Lanvig made a very offieent pianist, and the whole reflected great credit to Mrs Baunders.

The second part of the programme for which tihe Rev. I*. Mair acted as chairman, was as folloavs :—Song, "Hark to the 'Lighthouse Bell," Mr A. Rimmerj song, Mr Jenks; song, Miss Signore; song, "f Love a Lassie,"Mr Dick; duet, Mrs Stansell and Mrs iSignor. Mrs Gibson was particularly good, especially in her final song "The Promised Land." Mr Yentos also deserves special mention fob , his clever recitation and funny stones.
