(Received This Day, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, September 4.
Sir G. Reid's speech on memory at the British Association's Congress forms the text of numerous leading articles in the press. There is a consensus of opinion that it was original and spragibtly and will serve as a useful reminder of the futility of cramming.
(Chronicle Note: The British Association was founded in 1831, mainly to stimulate scientific inquiry, and to promote intercourse between scientists. It meets annuallv for a week in some provincial town : in 1884 it met at .Montreal, and 1897 in Toronto. Tt does not meet in London.
