SUMMARY OP THE NEW TIMB TABLiJBi. The alterations and amendment* to the railway time table have reduced many a citizen to the state of John Jones, costerraonger, some time of London, made illustrious by a song writer who sang of him that "since Jack Jones came into a little bit of oof 'e duimo where e' are!" The experiences of varying tim« tables during the past three or four months have left dubious lmpreMioM in the minds of citizens, and quite a number have missed their passages through confusing last months times with those of the present. No doubt there will be general appreciation felt for the subioitiea summary of train times, which wul bo printed in "The Chronicle from day to day, until familianty cure# the present doubtfulness with which residents in various localities are afflicted.
Aj3 previously mentioned, there are several wayside Btations at which one or more of the above trains will stop whenever passengers dosire to be set down or taken np. Local residents may ascertain which are the trains which cater for their towns, and may then work ont, from the above figures, the time which the train will take to travel from the station immediately preceding. The Auckland express reachea Palmerstton, from • the North, at 12.40 p.m. and arrives at Thorndon at 4.7 p.m. The Auckland oxpress leaves Thorndon at 12.15 p.m. and reaches Palmerston at 3.35 p.m.
