THOMPSON'S BOOK ARCADE The works of all the leading poets of past and present times are to he found on the bookshelves at THOMPSON'S, Oxford Street, Levin. Spenser's "Faery Queen." Shelley's "Prometheus Unbound," Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Love Sonnets, and various other standard works may be quoted. Samples of the works of Levin poets, also, may be procured at Thompson's. There were quite a number of Ohau and Levin and Weraroa poets moved to measured praise by tho offer of a prize for the best versified composition. One youthful miss, with a precocious turn- for irony, ivrites :■—■ "There's a stationery shop in Levin you should know, Where all the commonsense peoplo do go. There are a few more who live round about Should visit this shop when'er they are out." After considering various merits and weaknesses in the many verses sent in' the judge has decided to award the prize of five shillings to the following effort:— THOMPSON'S BOoK ARCADE "Of course you all know this place of renown For good quality goods; its the best in the town. Another thing too, the prices are fair, And there's no overcharging or huge proms there; So if you're ever in Levin—this lively little town— -Inst step into Thompson's and have a quiz round, For they've choice there to distraction, And the result you will find is great satisfaction."
