THE PROPOSED BONUS FOR DISCOVERY IN TREATMENT OF FLAX REFUSE, ETC.
To tho Editor. Sir,—Mr Tyiggins in his reply to me indulges in a lot of good natiirec] ''chaff," but he says nothing of who i.s going to bag the'profits from am discovery that the bonus might 'bring to light. The flax owners want the public to buy lor them a discoven or patent that will put thousand's into their pockets. Well, so (to T, and there are whole families like the flax-owners and myself; but that does not justify the Government in gratifying our wishes in the way we would like it to do. Just a word to your anonymous correspondent: He must have been born on a Scotch fast da .v; wit is about as funny as a piece of grocer's twino and'not nearly so useful,—l am, etc., W. -MURDOCH.
