One youthful miss, with a precocious turn for irony, writes:— "There's a stationery shop in Levin you sliould know, Where all the cominonsense peoplo do go. There are a few more who live round about Should visit this shop when'er they are out." Afler considering various merits and weaknesses in the many verses sent in' the judge has decided to suvarl the prize of five shillings to the following effort:— THOMPSON'S BOolv ARCADE "Of course you all know this place of renown l'Yr 'rood quality goods; its the best in the town. Another thing too, the prices are fair, And there's no overcharging or huge proms there: So if you're ovor in Levin—this lively little town— Just step into Thompson's and have a qui/, round, For they've choice there to dis(ruction, And the result you will find is great satisfaction."
