("PBR PIiESS ASSOCIATION.] OERrKTCiJLIRCH, August 17. At the Addington live stock market the flue, weather that has set in caused a larger yarding of stock to be tnadf and there was a good attendance. Eat cattle maintained their values and the fat sheep market opened well, but cased towards the close. Store cattle were in poor demand and daiiry cows sold well. There was a fair sale for all classes of pigs. The entry of store sheep showed an increase on the previous week's total and was made up principally of hoggets and wethers. The hoggets were of fair average quality and included a number, cf lines of Down crosses. The wethers were chiefly in good condition, but the ewes were nearly all aged. There was practically no change in values, thoijgh the demand for aged ewes was rather better. The vendors in some cases were, however, looking fcr still higher prices, anil in consequence their lots failed to find buyers. Forward wethers made 15s to IGs 7d, and low conditioned half breds 12s lOd, six and eight-tooth owes were passed at 18s l()d, and aged sorts made 7s 9d to .IDs lid, wether hoggets lis Od to 12s lid, smaller 10s 3d to lis, mixed sexes 12s Gd to 14s 7d, others l()s 7d to lis (id. Good ewe hoggets lis to 1 Is Gd. others 12s 9d to 13s Gd. There was a large yarding of fat sheep of mixed quality and at the opening of the sale there was good competition among the butchers, whose supplies had run out, in consequence of the small yarding tho week before. Prices, though not up to the exceptional rates of Lho previous week, were well up to those previously ruling. Towards the end of the sale prices eased somewhat and a little business was done for export. A West Coast buyer was also operating and graziers took several lots of unfinished wethers. This extra competition assisted to maintain prices after the butchers had filled their requirements. Then were only a few hundred fat hog.cets penned and these sr,|-': well. : rdiuary weights making l2s lOd to 18s 3d. There were onK' two new sons: n's lambs ottered, the supply no; v ining forward as it did last year. The yarding of fat cattle totalled 309 head and included a good proportion of prime and extra prime animals. There was a strong demand .for nil classes and a good clearance was effected at, prices equal to those of the previous week. Several lines from the North Island sold well. Steers made £7 15s to £11, and extra to £17 ss, heifers £7 to £9 10s, nnd extra to £10 15s, and cows £5 10s to £9 12s Gd, equal to 20s to 28s per 1001 hs to quality.
