COMMERCIAL. LONDON MEAT MARKETS. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Co. report on tho London meal market on July 1 as follows :—■ t Heef shows a slight improvement in favour of buyers, and English sides can n o\v be'bought at G'd'pei I" and Scotch sides at GJd to 7d per M». Port-killed sides continue dear at (id to (>,Jd par Ib. South American chilled beef is fairly plentiful and hinds show a trifling reliction, in value at quotations ranging from 4Jd to lid per lb. Fores are distinctly cheaper at 3d to %\u por lb. Somo Swedish beef has again eome forward and realised -I Jα to oid per lb. Mutton Ims met with a iittlo better enquiry, but .still suffers from a dull demand. Dutch supplies ran»,c from (i}d to 7d per lb. Komc•jvv.wn sheep are linn at last rates. Lambs are plentiful and meet a good enquiry. A feature is t!:e increasing n»'n'>er of .stall holders who handle frozen lambs. English lambs are selling at 7d to Bjd per lb, which makes the quotations for New Zealand good value. New Zealand mutton.—The only arrival is the Cornwall with 5922 carcases, but repeat arrivals have not readily consumption, and consequently stocks are fully equal to the very limited demand's mae'e upon t'iicm. Cantoiburys arc unchanged in value at Sid Lo 'id per ]!). but North Islands, although nominally unchanged, have a distinctly weaker tendency owing to tho competition to sell. F.wi-h can b<. , bought at 3d per lb. S.iutli American mutton. —Arrivals amount to about 89,00!) carcases per HiVhln,,d Laird, Harmo::ius. Admiral Sallanclrouze, llighiano Laddie, Norfolw, an>l Guardia;)a. The enquiry is very quiet and tho quotation of 32d to 3Jd per ll> is only maintained by viituo of sales not bei[|2, pressed. Australian mutton. The Oswentry Grange brings 2S/H3 carcases and the Orvieto "-iHo •. aivn.r.es. Tlie enquiry for small sheo;> cicates a lairly ready market for this mutton, but in spite of this values nave given way. The current quotation is M to 3Jd per lb, but a tow cnoicc light carcases command 3Jd pei II).
Frozen lamb.—Receipts consist or 8-',Ho carcases from New Zealand. s(ji>9 carcases from Australia, an<> 7513 carcases from B:ntli America. The consumption has bee- Wfi; !i - .tiintai|)Oil, but the arrivals have been rather in excess of the output, witii the result that a slightly weaker tune has been apparent. The quantities afloat are heavy and forward sales are made o n * a lower basis thaji for spot transactions. Canterbury lots do not exceed 6.J;1 per lb. and North Islands are appreciably lower at prices down to s£d per lb. A recovery, liowevei. is not unlikely if the demand remains at its present level. Frozen beef.—Stocks have bec n ir ; creased by -1355 quarters from Xotv Zealand, 21,812 quarters from Australia, a n d 8 l,(?ol quarters from South America. Supplies are now plentiful and prices i'n consequence show a further (lodine. \ow Zealand beef comninn;!:-; n slight preference at ;{ = ;1. to por lb for hinds, the former figure hA u <r the value of Argentine h'in'ds, but Au.s tralian beef is h tnv relegated to tiir last nositio,, at 3|d per lb for hinds and 2Jd to 3d for feres.
