CHRTSTCHTTRCH, This Day. The weather is dull, and rather raw, for the Grand National Meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club, which is beiflg opened at Ri'ccarton to-tlav.

St. Amelia 10.9, Ki 71 £ of Trumps 10.6, Red King 10.2, Slow Meg 10.0. Totika fell at the last fence. Won by <i length- and a half. Time, 3mi n . 10 4-ssee. TRIAL HURDLES, of 200 sovs; If miles. Master Paul, 10.13 ... 1 Appiji, 9.0 ... 2 Jack Ashore. 10.9 ... 3 Also ran : Mahuta 11.2. Kremlin 10.8, Arclight 9.5. Master Paul, who won all the way, was the only One of the six runners who has not beer; accepted for in the Grand National Hurdles.
WINTER CUP, of 1000 sovs; One mile. Nyland, 10.1 ... 1 Droadless, 9.4 ... 2 Electrokoff, 10.0 ... 3
Also ran: Penates 11.9, Los Angelos 11.3, North East 11.2, St. Aklan 10.11, Wnuehope 10.5, Wimmora 10.5, Bonny Gle n 9.13, Sharpshooter 9.13, Tawhaki 9.9, Adjudge 9.(3, Amato 9.5, Maniloius 9.3, Royal Marine 9.3. Pi n ul 9.0. Xoirtli East had the worst of tho start. Wimmcra and Sharpshooter led the field at a lively pace for throe-quarters of a mile, but they faded out in the last furlong or so. Xyland a-iul Dieadless both came away from the ruck in the last 'hundred yards, but Nyla n d displayed the quickest turn of toe, and finally landed the stake by a clear two lengths. Time, lmin.
