HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.
A meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held in the Levin Hotel last even Ing, Mr Proctor heing in the chair. The following members were nrosept :— Messrs McDonald, Ruihi Wehepeihnnn. Horo Karauti, Moynihan and O. Ooote (secretary pro. tem.)
MR. THORNE'S RESIGNATION
Mr Macdojiald said' that Mr Thorpe's resignation shoukl be dealt with as soon as possible. Mr Coote concurred with Mr Mne'lovmW and stated that he had seen Mr Thorne. who stated that he could "_ot under anv circumstajicea reconsider his decision. Mr then moved that Mr Thorno's resifrnation b" accented. _Mr Movnihan seconded the motion, wiln'ch was agreed to. Followipo- this Mr Coote Raid he was sorry that the Union was losing Mr Thorpe's services. He bad al-
wnvs found Mr Thorno very fair in nil his dealings. The work of the secretary was no soft thing, especially in so widely a scattered disti'ict Mi- Coote then pronosed that n vote of thanks be passed to Mr Thorno for past services to , the bnion. Mr Proctor seconded the motion, which was carried.
Mr Maedopnld moved that Mr Coote be elected secretary. Tin's was seconded bv Mr Movnihan. Mr Cooto thanked the members hut declined to accent the -position. Mr Coote nronosed, and Mr ProcMr seconded, that Mr Bnrge bn "looted secretary. Tliis was carried.
THE JIINTOR TEAM
Mr Broughton wrote Rtating that be had selected the following team to represent North part of the Union Tjrninst the Southern :
Full-back. Tom Nopia : t.hree-auar-t.ors. Ton Wim'atn. Tua Nepia, StoAv"11; five-eighths, Finlay, Aston ; half Buckmawii: wing. George; forwards Pio. Whioi. Son Broufrbton. Hapitn, Pettman • _ Mnscrrove, McGrego'r. Some discussion arose on the ip"lusion of Toa Winiata in the team, "nd it was decided to inform Mr Bronghton that according to the Union's by-laws thnt Toa Winiata having not fulfilled the residential qualification was not eligible to play in the junior team. CORRESPONDENCE.
A lei tor was received from the secretary of the Levin-Wanderer Club asking that Toa Wi'niata he added to the list of the B team. The letter was received and Wi'niata was classified a junior. The Town Clerk wrote stating that the Borough Council had granted the Union power to charge for admission to the recreation ground on August Gth, 13th a n d 23rd. This was noted. The secretary of tho Foxton ion wrote asking for the return match to be played o n the 20th foist. This date was agreed to. THE KOPUTAROA PROTEST. The Koputaroa protest again came up for discussion • Mr Coote said a mistake had been made by the U n ioji and it must abide by it. Mr Macdo n ald said it was a sonions mistake so far as junior, players were concerned. Some fiu-ther discussion ensued on the matter and subsequently Mr Karauti moved that the protest be not upheld. This was seconded by Mr Moynihan and carried. THE! B. REPS. Mr Horo Karauti was elected manager of the B team to Palmorstoji North to play the Manawatu H reps. It was decided to play in the Hui Mai colours. THE JUNIOR COMPETITION. It was decided to curtail the junior fixtures to tho four leading teams, the games to recommojico on the 20th. Levin-Wanderer B will meet Koputaroa at Levi n , and Hui Mai will try conclusions at Manakau. This concluded the meeting.
