EVFNTS IN SHANNON. (Reported by " Tho Chronicle's" 1.1 os iden t Bop rose nta t ive.) On Friday Mr and Mrs T. C. Dunckley returned from their trip north. They have visited both liotorua and Auckland, and altogether have had a most enjoyable trip. A sure sign of the increase, in the population ol tlvis district is noted by the fact that the Education Department has recently appoined Mr I) ugg.au. of "Wellington, as assistant master to the Shannon Public 'Snlrool. Tiiis makes four teachers hero now.
A meeting of the Hope of Shannon Lodge No. (i!). 1.0.G.T.. was held on Monday night, when D.D. Bro. J". The Rev. J. AYhite, of Levin, solemnised a wodding at' Broadway House on Alondny midday. Tlio liap]>y couple were the recipients of a large number of handsome and costly presents. Over forty guests were present, amongst whom were Mrs Collins, in. navy bluo tailormade continue and hat to mutch ; Mrs AldOwa.il, flowered silk blouse •ml d:ark skirt; Mrs Andrews, black •osfume and picture hat : Mrs Hunt, maroon silk blouse and black skirt; Mrs Bridle. dark tweed cost nine; Mrs AMiite.dark green costume with Mack p'Hure lint: Airs Mason, dark green costume: Miss Mason, dark green tweed costume; Mrs Monteith '■ream silk blouse and dark blue -kii t: Airs Bacon, pink silk blouse and dark green skirt. The bride and bridegroom left by the evening frail! for Palmerston North, from I'lii'iieo for Auckland. A jolly evening was spent, dancing and singing to Air W. Dougall's playing.
