GRAVE UNREST
OX ENGLISH RAILWAYS. PROSPECTS OK A STRTKE. [in ELECTIIIC TULKGIUI'II-COI'YIUOHT.] irurt iMti'SH association.] (Received This Day. !).() a.m.) LONDON", August 1. There is grave unrest among railway workers, especially on tho Great Northern, the Great Eastern, and the North Eastern lines. The men are dissatisfied with Lord MacDoiinoH's and Lord Gorrell's awards, and with the companies' interpretation of the Durham agreement. [There has been a good deal of trouble on English railways within recent years, and it was in 1007 that as the result of the gooil offices-of Mr Lloyd-George, who was then President of the Board of Trade, an agreement was reached which practically meant a seven years' peace in the railway world. The men are now evidently dissatisfied with recent awards, and trouble of a serious character may result. The headquarters of the Great Northern railway in London ■are King's Cross, and that of the Great Kastern railway Liverpool street, E.C., one of the largest stations in Europe.]
