CONSIDERS THE CLAIMS OF
Til IS SHEARER. [PKR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMTCRSTON, July 28. The Wellington Provincial executive i)f the Fanners' Union met nt Palmerston. to-day, Mr J. G. Wilson being in tibe chair. A large amount of correspondence in connection with I hi' shearers' and shed claims was dealt with, and tho meeting favoured a. Dominion awju'd being niiulo for shea rera. The demands of the shed hands and cooks, as made upon felio Canterbury sheepownorfi, wet'o considered and giMicrnlly condemned, as, owing to the temporary nature of the work and tho employment of a largo amount of experienced lnlKinr, and al.so to tho diverse conditions prevailing, no award for shed 1 Kinds can givo satisfaction or bo fair to either owners or workers, and that •an award for cooks at shea-ring time is not practicable. Tho Shearers' Accommodation Amendment Mill was a!po considered, and objections nuide to Rev-oral of tho clauses, as being unnecessary and .such as wonhl press unduly on small settlers. The president was empowered: to bring the objections against the Mill before, tho branches of tin* l : ivion.
