"THE DRUNKARD'S DAUGHTER" IX THE TOWN HALL. Of "The Drunkard's Daughter," tho drama to be played in the Town Hall this evening by tho Phil Walsh Dramatic Company, the Otaki Mail made tho following remarks when the play was last presented at Otaki: "The Phil Walsh Dramatic Company, which is much superior to the general run of those that appeal- in country towns, performed at the Otaki Town Hall on Monday night. Those present enjoyed a real treat, and expressed themselves as greatIv pleased with the splendid allround acting. The- piece staged, "The Drunkard's Daughter," was a first-class piece, brimful of mirth, with drama at suitable intervals Mr Phil Walsh, the exceedingly ver satile actor, as "Papa Eceles, kept the audience in good humour all through, and he was most ably sustained by Mr Stuart Mcßae, a young actor of'no mean ability, Mr George Gardener, who, like his leader, was to the fore throughout with comedy, and Mr Percy Mitchell. Miss Eva Marius-Paigne was a tower of strength, and drew forth tho hearty approbation of all present, while Miss Fanuie Paigne fairly revelled in the role of "Polly Eceles," creating much merriment by her interpretation of the character . Miss Eleanor Wade, like the others, sustained her part admirably. Taken all through the Comapny is about the brightest and cleverest, that has appeared in Otaki and the announcemeiit that it was their intention to return to the district was the signal for warm applause. It is a noteworthy fact in connection with the above company that a sum of money running into hundreds of pounds has been given at various times to charities, and Mr Walsh expressed himeslf as willing to help local institutions in tin's district in a similar manner. Such a company as this deserves the warm-hearted support of all residents."
