Mr I'.liil. Walsh, the clever IrishAmerican comedian, who plays here to-morrow for tho last time, producing " The Drunkard's Daughter." founded on Robertson's great comedy of "Caste," converses familiarly of events and places such as the Iriqnois holocaust at Chicago, where (i(!0 people lost their lives by lire and stampede ; and the gigantic, tragedy of the San Kraneiseo earthquake, where Mr Walsh was resilient manager of the magnificent seven million dollar theatre — fclw Majestic, in which, by the way, Miss Nellie Stewart made her first appearance in America. Mr Walsh directed the stage and played "Slieri<'au" in the American production of "Tom Moore," and with Mr Andrew Mack, journeyed to this country two years ago, after the dishandinont of Mr Mack's company at Perth (W. A.). Mr AYalsh organised and brought to New Zealand a. company of players, and for nine months of lust year confined his operations to Auckland province, playing a repert' ire of fourteen pieces. After a brief holiday in the United States he returned, in April last with new plays and an ambition to conquer new territory.
