For this reason it is to bo hoped thait tine Railway Departmont will see aits way to institute refreshment morns at Levin railway station j as mill appanage 'to the new conditions. From Pal me,r.ston North to I'aekakariki ivould be a (too lengthy span of tea and cake prohibition for long distance travellers. There were, we suspect, some faiuft hopes entertained at Otaki thiait the existence of railway station wfireshmenlt rooms in that town would be an added makeweight to the local movement for inducing the Railway Department to rule — even at the elevenJth liomr—that Otaki should be the watering place for the AucklandWollin'gton .and Wellington-Auckland expresses; and not Levin. But the unfortunate destruction by fire on Sunday last, of the Otaki railway station, added to the facit that
