EVENTS IN SHANNON. (Imported by " Tho Chronicle's" Resident Representative.^ Owing to the bad weather on Friday, Mr .Stiles, Mayor of Fox-ton, was unable to get over to opon tho Methodislt 'Winter Garden Fete. The Rev. P. M.eirs, in Mi' Stiles's stead, declined t-lio Fete open. The Druids' Hall ion this occasion assumed the most- attractive garb ;it lms done since it luus been built. Flower beds, with real flowers, palm and cabbage trees, entered largely into itJie decorative scheme. Strings of cotton wool to represent snow added greatly to the effect. A pretty lolly s'tivll, which was oresid«l over by the Misses Xewth, was decorated witli white and pink. The stage was ronvert'od into a spacious tea room, wherem excellent afiternooiii tea and dainty supper was served at a nominal fee. Tn the evening the Glee Party, which has been practising for some weeks past, gave some tuneful glees, under 'the able conductorship of the P-ev. P. Meirs. Songs were also by Miss Signer, Mrs Rows and Mr Pimmer of Foxton. Miss Signor .and, Mr Pinline r sang a dnet; so did Mrs Saunders and Miss Laurvig. Roth of these item* were greatly apnreciatnfl. A word of praise is due to Messrs A. Saunders and E. J. Jndd, for the hard and artistic work they nut in decorating the hcill.
