POOR YARDINGS

There were only poor yarding, sat the Levin sltock sales yesterday, the iuclemont weather mo doubt," accounting for this, one farmer remarking to our reporter that "it is not very tempting to bring out stock in this kind of weather." Nevertheless, [there was, under +he circumstances, a fairly good attendance. Bidding was slow. In fact, it was a dragging sale. There was little sold under the hammer. Both sheep and pigs wore down, but cattle fetched good prices, especially fat stock. In connection with sheep, one line of 2-tooth wethers met with a fair competition, and fetched 14s Bd. The bulk of the stock offered by Mr Jillett was passed under the hammer on failing to reach only reserve, but was sold subsequently at good prices. Competition in beef was good. Heavy bullocks fetched a price as high as £10 2s (>d, equal to 22s 6d per cwt. Light-weight bullocks also passed under the hammer.
