A SUCCESSFUL YEAR
ANNUAL MEETING OF SHARE-
HOLDERS
Mr James Pro use, chairman of directors, presided over a representative gathering of shareholders in the Levin Co-operaitive Dairy Company, this morning, the occasion being the annual meeting of shareholders. A suctodfjsfnll season's business was reported, an actual net profit of £118$ having nesulted. This had been partly absorbed by writing off for "'depreciation to the extent of £659 12s lOd. During' (ho year, milk suppliers drew £21,722 from the company, and there was paid, Ui wages, £1333 2s Id, of which total £935 10s Id was for Levin factory and £89 13s lid for the Lin,ton factory. Butter sales yielded C 20,331 10s Gel. and cheese sales £0610 5s Id. The annual re (.wit stated that it gave much pleasure to the directors to state that the new. factory had quite come up to highest expectations. The splendid quality of our butter, as evidenced by Ihe grade notes, and also the success of our manager (Mr Smellie) in winning prizes alt Dunedin aiul Palmcrston Shows, must give very great satisfaction to every shareholder. 'During the past season there had been a very substantial increase in the quantity of nr'lk supplied, resulting in an incrca.se of butter solas. The prospects for next season were quite as bright as last year's, as far as prices for nroducits were concerned!, and tfiiere was every probability that next season would be a record one. The whole of the plant had been kept up-to-date. Evidence in Ithe matter of pasteurisation of milk is being placed before to-day's meoting by tike directors. Messrs B. R. Gardener and Davies have retired from the board bv provided rotation, and Mr Gardener has decided not to seek reelection, he being unablo to SDare the necessary time. Mr Davies is seeking re-election, and Messrs ,T. D. Brown, E. M. Heruiok and W. Read also are candidates. Messrs G. J. Scott and Messrs Gold and A reus are offering themselves for re-election.
