LEVIN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
\ meeting of the, Levin Borough Council was held at the offices, Oxford street, Mr ». R- Gardener (the Mayor) presiding, and the following 'members present:— Crs. Cameron, Mackenzie, Palmer, Lancaster, llannan, Arcus. France, J. I'rouse, with Mr V. W. Goldsmith (town clerk). THK KTRAKER. Mr H. M Lodge, county clerk, wrote convoying the resolutions of the County "Council on the matter of the strakor, and tho condition, of the roads. These were to tho effect (1) That the County Council regretted tihat it could not accept any responsibility towards repairing certain .streets unless the, Borough Council accepted a similar liability in regard to tho damage done to tin) county roads by -tihe borough traffic; (2) That the County Council would endeavour to nui.ivimi.so .any damage by instructing _ the. driver to run 'over as much of tbo road as possible, and not keep in one rut. The letter was received without comment. MISCELLANEOUS. Letters from Mr E. J. Williams and Mr X. Kirkoaldie, the question of an abattoir for Levin, and other matters are. reported under our Deal column. TFA'DER ACCEPTED. The tender of Mr 11. A. Newman for twelve months for carting ooals from the jsi.s works was accepted. Ml? HOOK'S PROPERTY. On the motion of Cr Mackenzie st'(onded by Cr. Cameron, Mr Rolstoil's offer of Us a week was ao cepted for the property at present oceupied by Mr I. Hook, Mr Gold smith nud the Mayor to arrange for necessary repairs. OITSTANDIXG RENTS , . Cr. Lancaster moved: That a return lie placed upon tho table of tho Council at tho next meeting of al! outstanding rents due by the various tenants of the Council. Cr. Arcus seconded tho motion, which was adopted. MfNICIPAL RESERVE, BLOCK 11. The Mayor moved, Cr. Palmer sccoik'.oll, and it is resolved : —That all previo'iis resolutions passed in the minute book relating to the leading of tihs , municipal reserve, block If., be rescinded, and especially these motions .standing on the book and pages 57 and 58, which refer to the upkeep, rents and binding clause. CHARITABLE .AID. The .Superintendent of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board wrote, requesting the Council to give ihiin the names and particulars of grants of any charitable aid cases it might have in band at present. The Town Clerk intimaited that he had transmitted the necessary information to the Board. TEX PER CEXT. LOAXS. The superintendent of the Xe\r Ze-.ila.nd State-guaranteed Advance Department wrote to the effect that as legal opinion had been expressed that the ndditioni.il 'ten per cent, loans could be granted by the Su-it? Guaranteed Advances Board, ■lie herewith enclosed a form of application for such a loan, and also a statutory declaration of the entire .and exclusive exp , ?iu I |i!tii-re of th , ' original loan. This was noted.
