LEVIN AMATEUR DRAMATIC SOCIETY.

PERFORMANCE AT OTAKI.

In Inst night's issue of tho Otaki Mail the following comments appoared regarding the -perforin ance of "Greed, of Gold" given iby the Levin' Amateur Dramatic Society :— The whole performance with one or two light defects, hardly discernible was carried out with much gusto, and all deserve kudos for fine acting. All spoke and acted splendidly, the parts of "Mr and' 'Mrs .Milton" (MaL. Nation and Mrs C. G. Banks) being very well sustained. They had heavy parts but, nevertheless, acquitted themselves in fine style. "Major Cballis" (Mr A. V. Joyce) also filled his part with credit, while "Ned Bowles ,1 (Mr F. Rout)'and the "Rev. Lincoln Green" (Mr C. G. Banks) are to ho commended for supplying the humourous vein, and causing hearty laughter andapprortiation. Their comicalities were good, and helped considerably towards putting the audience in a. happy mood. Mr jA. Grover ("Colonel Carri.n£ton") also acted well. The part of Sybil Milton was taken by a diminutive girl (Miss Rout), the child carrying out herpnrt pleasingly, speaking'a ml acting in good styleT Later in. the piece, this roll was taken with credit by Miss George. The part of "Delia Challis". was most a>bly sustained by Miss N. Smith, who, like other leaders, deserves praise. Mir Sidney Hall acted as tho "Hon. Harry Chafforton," while other narts were taken by Messrs B. Harcount ("Private Wilkins"), L. Nation ("One Eye, the Unknown"), J. C. Johnson ("Magistrate"), and D. MuKgrovc ("Constable Harper".) A pleasing 'feature of the performance was some fine items rendered by an orchestra, of half-a-dozen, "layers.

Prior to the closing scenes Mr Hugh Hall thanked those present for their attendance, but regretted there was not a largefr audience, which, however, he would Blame to (the unfa vonrahle weather. He trusted, when the company again appeared at Otaki, that it would he greeted by a larger house.
