ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Ilorowhe.nua Hack (Ratling Club was held last evening tin 'Messrs Hatchings, ELankins and Co., Ltd., rooms, "Weraroa. Mr J. McLeavey (pmsidont) presided, and, considering tho sta,te of tho wealthier, tlio.re was a. good attendance. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual .report, which was road by the secretary (.Mr J'\ G. Roe) was as follows:— "In presenting the 'thirteenth annual report and 'balance short, your stewards have great pleasure in stating that the receipts still slummi increase 011 all previous meetings. Your stewards ihave been al>la to rediucw liabilities by a snia.ll annount, hut some ways and means will I have to be taken to reduce the Park Company account. The stewards wish to thank all officers for their assistance and co-openation during tho year." Oil the motion of Mr Reri Nicholson, seconded by 'Mr J. Cameron, tho report and 'balance sheet were received. PARK COMPANY. The chairman said that 'he was

sorry to see that the cluh's debit balance was so great ami that it owed the Park Company so nnicli money. The Park Gonijvmy hud had a meeting that afternoon, and its members would have probably something to ibring forward for consideration during the evening. The balance sheet and report were then adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers was then proceeded with. On the motion of Mr I3ev.au, seconded by Mr Vnl. Hitchings, Mr W. H. Field, M.P., and the Hon. J. Carroll were re-appoint-ed patrons. Tho elation of a president was then considered, And tho chairman stated that it was his intention to retire. Before doing so, lie desired to express his sense of gratitude for the kindness ho had always received fit everyone's hand. The only thing ho did regret was tho tact that tho ibalance sheet was not as .favourable as tliey would liko it to be. Certainly a slight improvement had been made lately, but at the same time things were not satisfactory, and he regretted the state of tilings so far as the. Park Company was comjn-ned. However, he hoped that the next president would be able to place a better state of things before the next annual meeting, and he concluded 'by again expressing his thanks for the iirvaniaJble kindness and courtesy lie had neceived at the hands of the members. Mr Potts said that 'Air MoLeavey had been the mainstay of thb eluib for the last three years, and he pressed him to return to his present position. _ He moved to this effect!. Mr Ileri .Nicholson seconded. Th-o motion was, nmid aipplauso unanimously agreed to. ' The chairman, in returning thanks told to tihe gathering that he came there with the deliberate intention of retiring, as he was of the opinion that it was ripe time for another man to fill the post. But the kind things said about him that evening, and the unanimous manner in which the kind resolution, bad been carried, induced him to reconsider his intention; and therefore ho would

again consent -to accept the presidency.—(Applause.) On the motion of Mr Bronghton, seconded by Mr J. R.yder, Messrs j! rvttl/bell and P.
