ELECTION OF OFFICERS
UPKR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, July 14. The Farmers'' Union Conference to-day decided that the disposal of Crown lands 'by ballot had undoubtedly encouraged gambling in. land. The Conference also made a. number of suggestions for embodying in the Land Bill this .session. The following lesolutions wero arrived at: — That the contruction of, punlic works by co-operative labour should stop, and all works of any magnibure be done by tender. That .attention be called to the discrepancy between the moneys voted by Parliament and the amount expended. An Auckland remit suggesting that a. Farmers' Party bo formed was referred to the various branches. It was decided to ask the Government to assist any movement having the object of the immigration of suitable domestic helps. Tt was resolved that farming industry should lie directly represented on Harbour Boards." That provincial executives throughout the dominion be formed I into systematic land and estate
