A deputation representing the producing interests of tho Commonwealth submitted to .Mr Tudor (Federal Minister of Trado and Customs) objections to tho proposed export duty on hides and skins and urged that tlio duty would causo an n:mnud loss to growers of C 300,000. Any export duty on tho primarv products was, the deputation declared. worthy of the dark ages. _ Mr Tudor, in reply, said'that practically the whole of tho master tanners of tlio Common wealth had asked for the tax. He promised that the Cabinet would consider tlr-* question.
