Row Mr WWrall expressed the opinion that it would be simply national suicide !U> allow the films to bn shown here or elsewhere .in the .Empire, while a. lady deputatioiiiist claimed that the sight, ol ill deeds war responsible for ill deeds being done. While tho deputation) wanted the Johnson-Jeffries films especially prohibited, it also,desired thn.t 'others of a similar character bo kept out oJ' the counltry. Air Fisher stated that he would deal with the question of general prohibition later. As to the fight pictures, they could not be barred unless found rntleceiiit. Ho would not legislmto for one particular event, and would not think of taking steps to prohibit boxiing much as lie alitor red prize fighting, which introduced a purely commercial spirit. The press reports of the fight disclosed nothing more degrading than was ordinarily Connected with boxing and. lie had 110 iintention of asking the Department to prohibit tlw> introduction of the films. Ho was not gotmg to bn driven bv the little exciltablo feeling which had n risen.
