Tho Wellington Acclimatisation Society has given notico of appeal against the decision of Mr A. I). "Tlio Opposition l ,( artv has never been so united as it is at the present time," says Mr C. A. Hardy, Opposition. Whip. He adds that so far iiis position Ims been jiti absolute sinecure, and now that the younger members have become used to the position, all minor differences have been sunk, and unity is the chief characteristic of tho party. At next Saturday's meeting of the liorowhenua County Council tllio following motion will be moved by Ooiidicilltjir Tonipsitt, of Otaki 'li'at a report be furnished on the following subjects: 1. The Governaineii't is being strongly urged by Mr W. H. Field, M.P. (remarks last night's Post) to se-nd a team of rifle shots to Melbourne in October to defend the Gordon Highlandtijs' Trophy, which has already been won twice by Xe,w Zealand.—once in Australia a.ud once in the Dominion. Mr Field urges that if a team is to be sent it is quite time it got to work. The laet that Xew Zealand has not sent a team to Hi.sky for fire years, whereas the Commonwealth is regularly represented there, is, Mr Field urges, a good reason why Xew Zealand should at least hi* represented in Australia.
