EVENTS JN SHANNON. (Reported, by "Tho Chronicle's'' Resident Representative.) Shannon .hms been in a somewhat somnolent conditio'n of late; consequently there is little of importance to write about. Influenza is prevalent amongst the horses here; in many cases ithas been necessary to dasenntinue working thorn, which has wiuswl 'jjreat inconvenience. The trustees of tho Recreation Ground are having it pl«uj>)li<sl, and it is to be hoped; that Shiinno'ii residents will soon have I3i« pleasure of making use of that fine' reserve. Bad weather, generally accompanied by sever* , wind, lias been experienced here recently. Building operations seem to bo Wri.sk in this .locality. Messrs Eado Bros, have just completed a very fine house for Mr F. W. Venin, whiich is certainly the best wo have in this township. A house is being erected for Mr "W. Crowth«r in the East road. Two shops will shortly be built in Plimmor Terrace. Tendors are out for poundikeopor's cottage. Additions will sHnortily be made to the Methodist ehurcih. Mr Atcus will shortly corrmrewo the. work of erecting tho new school n( Makerna. Spencer Bros, expect to -omplete Mr A. Seifert's new Pniiaki mill in about two weolcs. The only building that T h.avo not humrd about iiid which is most necessary m a. new Post Office, hut "evcrvMii<!.'>: "onifs to him who waits;" so Slmii'lon need not despair.
