■3 MACHINE v. HAND MILKING. (Fedding Star.) Miic-l)iiie-inill<iii<r versus band-milk-ing is the matter of t.!ic niomen in, this district. These are sonic dairyincn who would like to instal the machines, but are dubious in view oil' the dniparaging statements being inado about the bad effects on the cows. So far ia.s can be gathered from dairy fanners in this district, the machines are successful in every way. -Mr J. MeFaiiand, of Anrangi, who lias had tho machine* for the past months, speaks altogether in their favour._ "T have no hesitation," he iniformed our ropresenta tivo yesterday, "in roccm men ding the machines. ' [ am entirely satisfied with the results obtained. I was told the cows would go dr.\ sooner through being milked with the machines, but such has not been the case. Gloomy -predictions were also made that the mechanical makers would pull the cows about, mi id injure the udders: but there has : been no sign of any such injniry." : Another dairymen who was spoken to on the question remarks] that ; there wevo croakers in every herd. ' and there were bound to he some ■ who would condemn the machines. ' Several dairymen in the ('olytoin ( district, .and a number in, Ifhe A oringi settlement who have not al- • ready done so. are arranging to ' instal the machines for next season.
