Am outbreak of fire was discovered in the forward hold of the steamer Indradevi, borthod at the end of the Qnt'tMi street w.lnarf at 1.30 this morning. Smoke was soon issuing from thi' hold, where was stored hardware goods. When the hatches were liftoo • smoke rushed otut of the forohold, and the fire brigade attnnded smartly. Soiiii after 2 a.m. a man AoscL'iided to emle-avoiir to lwalte th<seat of the fire while air was pumped into the hold from the deck. The smoke continued to increase in volume, and n.fc 2.80 a.m. the fonrarci P'lrt of Mie ship was seen to be badly damaged.
