-4 [I'Kll PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON N., This Day. The National Dairy Show omened ,to-day in glorious weather. To-dav is principally being spent in judging the large entries received in every class. This vea,r the Association has made a special feature ol fruit, and entries have been received tram all parts of the dominion. The championship in the cheese classes is not yet available. The demonstration of milking machinery in the .special hall is being attended by a big crowd this morning, and .is entirely successful - five different machines working. The apples prize was won by D. E. Fry (Nelson). 1; J. Rich (Havelock North). 2; J. Gushing (Olive), M. The principal winners in the rest of the fruit classes are D. E. Fry (Nelson). J. Porter (Wangnnui), J. Peters (Waipawa), A. B. Hall (Waimea), Shailer and Sons (Palmerston North). HOROWHENUA COUNTY SUCCESSES. (Special Telegrams to The ITorowheuua Chronicle.) A later wire says:—There is a good muster of the public, at the Show Grouwis this afternoon, and the weather continues fine. A specially attractive feature is the display of milking machines in operation, relays of milch cows being driven up, and the processes of machine milking are watched by big audiences. Honowhenua County exhibitors met with marked successes. In the home indusbries section. Mrs TI. Anstiee (Levin), Mrs A. F. Wilson (Levin). Mrs Richard Bevan (Manakiiu), and Mrs G. N. Stephenson (Shannon), all secured one or more first prizes. Mr R. Harris (of Levin) was very highly commended for his honey exhibit..
