MANAWATU HUNT.
_ . 4 —^-^ SUCCESSFUL MEET' AT HEATHERLEA. (By "Foliow'or.") The first nm of the Manawatu Hunt in Levin on Saturday created much local interest and attracted a large number of outside •followers. The first 'train from Palmorston brought fifteen horses and men, besides the .huntsman and the hounds. At about eleven a party of eight arrived from Otaki and Waikanae. They all melt at .the Post Office at one o'clock and proceeded in a body to Poroutawhat, where the throw off H-fl.s arranged to take place, on Mr J. Pv, McDonald's pro]>erty, at the old polo ground. Pronr]rtly at 2 p.m..Messrs J. G. Jamieson! on "Black Pateli." and M. McEwen. o-n "Putin," left to lav the drag. Hoth horses jumped well and were soon out of sight. Tho hounds were then e«ste loose and "Rincwood," smartly finding, the whole were soon racing in full <\ry. The course was an ideal one. over easy umlulaiting country; the fences had been strong and "substantially erected and did not ibreak when struck bv a horse. A bait was made after travelling three miles a* Mr McDonald's havsliedto allow borses and men a short breather.
